  • Conductivity Meter for Distillate Fuels

    Posted by Eloise - March 3, 2010 18:57

Stanhope-Seta’s New hand-held Conductivity Meter, has been designed to measure the electrical conductivity of distillate fuels such as Jet-A1 to ASTM D2624 or IP 274.

The unit is provided in an industry standard ATEX approved polyamide housing, with a built in Lithium Ion rechargeable battery system. The conductivity sensor is constructed of two 316SS coaxial electrode sensors. It has a measurement range of 0 to 2000 picosiemens/meter (pS/M), although it is optimized and is usually used in the 0 to 500 pS/M range.

It has an easy to use menu system and allows users to store up to 10 sample data points internally along with the temperature date and time, this data can be viewed on the screen or transferred to a computer via USB. Software is also available for data analysis plotting and archiving.

Are Your Plants Getting Enough Light?

    Posted by Eloise - March 1, 2010 18:56

All plants need sunlight to grow and flourish, but the right amount can vary depending on the plant.Traditionally growers have relied on their eyes to determine the correct level, with Spectrum's new Light-Scout DLI 100, growers can accurately monitor the (DLI) over a 24 hour period.

The Light-Scout is quick and easy to use. With the push of a button it runs for up to 24 hours at a time and displays measurements every 10 seconds in light intensity (μmol m-2 or foot-candles) and DLI. The Light-Scout comes in a pack of three and can be positioned throughout your greenhouse, golf course or crops so you can compare the difference in light levels and the effect it is having on plant growth and quality.

The Light-Scout is battery operated and water resistant.

    Integrated Pest Management

    Posted by Eloise - February 17, 2010 01:53

Spectrum Technologies have released the IPM Scope CAM - an upgraded version of the IPM scope. Previously users had to transfer images and videos to a computer for viewing, now they can view them on a built-in screen before they are transferred.

Fine details of plant disease symptoms, insects or anything else too small to see with the naked eye can be clearly defined with IPM’s versatile 3-25X magnification. Instead of straining to look into a tiny eyepiece, the IPM Scope CAM is placed over the leaf and the magnified image can be viewed on the screen or transferred to a computer via a SD card/USB cable.  Once the image has been transferred to a computer it can be magnified up to 300X.

The IPM Scope CAM combines a digital camera (5.1 mega pixels), precision optics and LED lighting into a powerful handheld microscope.

NEW Portable Viscometer for Kinematic Viscosity Measurement

    Posted by Eloise - February 17, 2010 01:48

Cannon’s new portable viscometer, the SimpleVIS has been specifically designed for industrial users in non-laboratory environments. It provides fast and reliable kinematic viscosity measurement and is suitable for a range of oils including mineral, synthetic and formulated motor /gear oil.

The SimpleVIS has a rapid cycle time of 3 minutes and a viscosity range of 40oC: 10 – 700 mm2/S (cSt) and 100oC: 5.5 - 200mm2/S (cSt). Dark/opaque liquids can be measured with the same precision as transparent fluids without the need to change tubes.

With a graphical touch screen and no additional gauges or valves to adjust the SimpleVIS is quick and easy to use. It is fully self-contained and doesn’t need to be connected to an external computer.

Occupying an extremely small footprint of 128mm x 356mm x 304mm the SimpleVis is the smallest campillary viscometer on the market.

Allan Brett - 50 Years Of Service in Science

    Posted by Eloise - February 17, 2010 01:43

John Morris Scientific would like to congratulate Allan Brett for 50 years of service with the company. Over the last 50 years Allan has worked with three generations of the Wyzenbeek family and has seen John Morris Scientific grow from a small consumable supplier to the largest privately owned scientific instrument supplier in Australia, New Zealand and the South West Pacific.

Commencing on 30th November 1959 Allan started work at JMS as an assistant storeman, working his way up to Store Manager and then moved into sales. Since then he has held several positions including Branch Manager for our Melbourne office in 1971 and Territory Manager in the Sydney Metropolitan area.  For the last fifteen years he has also looked after our many customers in the South West Pacific region.

Allan has developed a very loyal customer base, who know that they can trust and rely on him. He continues to be one of JMS’s most successful Territory Managers.

As well as working for John Morris Scientific, Allan is an active member of the community. He has been a member of a Surf Life Saving Club, a volunteer with the NSW Ambulance Service and for the last 35 years in the Rural Fire Service where he has served as a Group Officer, Deputy Captain and Captain.

We thank him for his contribution over the last 50 years and look forward to his continued involvement at JMS.
