Biotage, a leading supplier of tools and technology for medicinal and analytical chemistry, are proud to announce a new initiative to develop new applications for the Biotage Syro Wave in the field of synthetic peptide and protein chemistry.

Global demand from research scientists for synthetic peptides continue to grow at a double digit rate. Their needs are for increasingly longer and more complex peptides to study protein interactions, produce peptide antibodies, and understand complex disease states. As the number and complexity of peptides increase, the scientists and researchers need new tools that offer higher productivity and increased performance.

The Biotage Syro Wave automated peptide synthesizer was jointly developed by Biotage and MultiSynTech GmbH.  The instrument combines the proven technologies behind Biotage’s Initiator microwave instrument with the well-established Syro line of robotic peptide synthesizers from MultiSynTech.  As noted by Professor Knud J. Jensen from the Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Copenhagen, “The Syro Wave is the first valve-free peptide synthesizer with integrated microwave heating. It holds great promise for the synthesis of both long peptides and even small proteins.”

John Morris Scientific is pleased to offer Parr's newest addition to the 6000 Series Calorimeters, the Model 6400 Automatic Isoperibol Calorimeter. Designed for laboratories that require high through put, the 6400 features a closed-loop water handling system which is built into the calorimeter. 

This new calorimeter uses the fixed bomb and bucket technology which automates the bucket and jacket fill as well as the vessel fill and rinse. This design concept has made it possible to offer unique levels of automation for the entire calorimetric determination not just the data collection and reporting steps. An external nitrogen pressurised tank is used to supply rinse water to the calorimeter.

Up to four 6400's can be operated by one technician simultaneously, making it the most productive and precise automated calorimeter commercially available. The sealing surfaces in the 6400 have been redesigned for better sealing and a longer service life. Furthermore, test results demonstrate tighter data sets than have been generated by previous automatic models.

Vacubrand are proud to introduce two new diaphragm pumps, the ME 1 and ME 1 C for filtration and sample preparation in chemistry, microbiology, waste water control and other analytical applications. These two pumps are compact, offer high performance and are easy to use. They are ideal for both single and multiple filtrations.

The ME 1 is suitable for aqueous filtration and the ME 1C with its exceptional chemical resistance properties is ideal for more aggressive solvents.

With a new top mounted power switch and space saving design, the ME 1 and ME 1 C are easy to use (even with gloves) and require minimal bench space. An optional manual control valve is available with a dial gauge to enable variable fine adjustment of the pumping speed (max. 0.7 m³/h).

John Morris Scientific are pleased to introduce Atago’s new refractometer for Beer. The pocket sized PAL-PLATO is used to measure the "Sweet Wort" in Beer and to determine the final point of fermentation.

The PAL-PLATO has a measurement range of 0.0 - 30.0 o Plato (accuracy 0.2 °) and is available with automatic temperature compensation. It is water resistant and conforms to IP65.

 Atago have released a new refractometer to mark their 70th Anniversary. The pocket-sized PAL-LOOP contains a new continuous measurement feature which can be switched on or off to suit your individual needs.

The PAL-LOOP has a measurement range of 0.0 - 85.0% Brix (accuracy ± 0.2%) and can be used to measure almost any sample. It has a temperature range of 10 - 75oC with automatic temperature compensation, is water resistant and conforms to IP65.

The PAL-LOOP is quick and easy to clean – just rinse with water and it is ready to be used again.

Stanhope-Seta’s New hand-held Conductivity Meter, has been designed to measure the electrical conductivity of distillate fuels such as Jet-A1 to ASTM D2624 or IP 274.

The unit is provided in an industry standard ATEX approved polyamide housing, with a built in Lithium Ion rechargeable battery system. The conductivity sensor is constructed of two 316SS coaxial electrode sensors. It has a measurement range of 0 to 2000 picosiemens/meter (pS/M), although it is optimized and is usually used in the 0 to 500 pS/M range.

It has an easy to use menu system and allows users to store up to 10 sample data points internally along with the temperature date and time, this data can be viewed on the screen or transferred to a computer via USB. Software is also available for data analysis plotting and archiving.

All plants need sunlight to grow and flourish, but the right amount can vary depending on the plant.Traditionally growers have relied on their eyes to determine the correct level, with Spectrum's new Light-Scout DLI 100, growers can accurately monitor the (DLI) over a 24 hour period.

The Light-Scout is quick and easy to use. With the push of a button it runs for up to 24 hours at a time and displays measurements every 10 seconds in light intensity (μmol m-2 or foot-candles) and DLI. The Light-Scout comes in a pack of three and can be positioned throughout your greenhouse, golf course or crops so you can compare the difference in light levels and the effect it is having on plant growth and quality.
