Martin Christ’s new LyoCube 4-8 LSC, is a unique front-loading bench-top freeze dryer for ALPHA units.

The LyoCube contains numerous features including Martin Christ’s innovative wireless shelf technology (WST), front loading chamber and individual temperature control of each shelf.

Wireless shelf technology (WST) provides relief from difficult handling of wired shelves and racks during pre-freezing. WST also overcomes freezing of cables on freezer wall or on ice condenser, when freezing directly in the lyophilizer. The LyoCube drying chamber is solvent resistant due to it stainless steel material.

The front loading chamber offers fast, easy loading and overcomes the problem of sample melting. The LyoCube can be equipped with up to 8 heated shelves. Shelves are electrically heated for reduced cycle times and homogeneous results. These shelves can be removed for cleaning, or manually adjusted to make way for higher vessels/vials.

John Morris Scientific are pleased to introduce Martin Christ’s Epsilon series Pilot-Scale Freeze Dryers.

Epsilon Pilot-scale freeze dryers assist production scale technology and are commonly used for upscaling laboratory research, production freeze drying cycle development as well as small scale production.

The entry model Epsilon 2-4 D achieves a shelf temperature range of -70°C - +80°C The 2-4 D is available with one shelf with an area of 0.11m².

The ice condenser temperature reaches below -80°C. The anodised Aluminium shelves are electronically heated and passively cooled, making the 2-4 D an economic model appropriate for experimental and routine freeze drying.

The Epsilon 2-6 D has a shelf temperature range of 150°C - +60°C. The 2-6 D is available with a maximum of four shelves with an area of 0.28m². The maximum distance between shelves is 75mm (with three shelves).

The ice condenser has a temperature of -85°C, this ensures the shortest possible drying times and optimal protection of the included vacuum pump. All shelves are actively cooled and heated allowing unmatched control of the process. Martin Christ use a unique three compressor design to ensure the highest cooling rates during product freezing and stable shelf temperatures during the drying process. The 2-6D fulfils the highest standards for pharmaceutical and biotech industries.

Epsilon 2-10 D has a shelf temperature range of  -45°C - +60°C. The 2-10 D is available with a maximum of seven shelves with an area of 0.84m². The maximum distance between shelves is 70mm (with 5 shelves). Like the Epsilon 2-6D, the 2-10D has an ice condenser temperature of -85°C and features three compressors to gain the highest performance.

All freeze dryers feature a professional programmable user interface, LSC. The LSC controller allows free programming of all functions including pre-freezing, main drying and final drying. Alarm and sample protection functions ensure your product is protected from melting.

Martin Christ Epsilon series freeze dryers allow the use of Martin Christ’s world wide unique Lyosensor LC 1 which combines temperature and electrical resistance measurement for economic yet precise freezing point measurement.

Windows based LPC-32 software is available for PC process control and documentation. LPC-32 is widely used in large freeze drying production systems and fulfils GAMP and cGMP and CFR 21 part 11 guidelines.

John Morris Scientific are pleased to introduce Martin Christ’s Rotational Vacuum Concentrators.

Rotation vacuum concentration (or centrifugical evaporation) is used for evaporation, drying, purification and concentration of liquid samples.

Rotational vacuum concentration is an alternative to distillation systems, rotary evaporators and freeze–drying systems. Distillation systems and rotary evaporators use high temperatures which can damage sensitive samples. Freeze-drying systems operate at low temperatures and high vacuum levels. Although sublimation (the direct transformation from frozen solid to steam) protects the sample, it is time consuming and the technology rather expensive.

Rotational vacuum concentrators offer a method between rotary evaporation and freeze drying. In rotational vacuum concentration, the sample solvent is evaporated at a low temperature, low pressure and without having to be frozen. There is little thermal strain on the sample, which is important when working with thermally sensitive biological or clinical substances. The material is rotated at a moderate centrifugal speed of 1.350 to 1.550 min^-1 The resulting force prevents the sample from spitting or bumping and reduces the risk of cross contamination if multiple samples are concentrated. The solvent can be collected for re-use or disposal in either cold traps of the concentrator or emission condensers of the connected vacuum system.

Martin Christ has a range of Rotational Vacuum Concentrators:

- The RVC 2-18 CD Mini concentrator is an inexpensive and compact personal concentrator suitable for smaller sample volumes and is often used for DNA/RNA work.

- The RVC 2-25 CD is a middle sized, table top concentrator for routine concentration of small to mid size sample volumes. A dedicated HCL version is available for work with strong acids.

- The RVC 2-33 CD Maxi concentrator is a multipurpose system for large volumes with practically all types of solvents.

- The new RVC 2-33IR is a high performance concentrator for shorter drying times and large volumes. The new product sample temperature sensor has wireless signal transmission which allows precise control and documentation of the sample temperature.
