  • Automated Cloud & Pour Point Analyzer

    Posted by PressReleases - September 19, 2011 21:18

PAC is proud to announce that its ISL Mini Cloud Pour Point Analyzer (MPP 5G) is in accordance with the procedures of the recently released ASTM D7689-11 Standard Test Method for Cloud Point of Petroleum Products (Mini Method). Precise measurement of the cloud point is critical for petroleum blending operations. The new ASTM D7689-11 test method determines the cloud point in a shorter time period than ASTM test method D2500.

PAC’s MPP 5G offers fast and accurate results using only 0.5 ml sample. Results are available within 20 minutes for a -30oC pour point.  The MPP 5G transports easily thanks to its compact size (25 cm W x 65 cm D x 31 cm H). The MPP 5G increases productivity and enhances test reliability with a 0.1oC resolution. External coolers are eliminated and testing as low as -95oC is possible. Application range includes cold behavior, lubricant oils, base stock oils, PAO, distillate fuels, liquid petroleum products and biodiesel.

The MPP 5G is unique to the industry and provides the following benefits:

    - Increased test productivity due to automation.

    - Reliable results with resolution of 0.1oC

    - Ultra low temperature testing to -95oC.

    - Does not require cleaning.

    - Fast results and high throughput.

    - Built-in 10 position sample changer with single button initiation.

    - Compact and portable, therefore easy to transport.

    - Does not require external coolers.

In addition to meeting ASTM standard D7689-11, the analyzer also complies with ASTM D7346 and correlates to ASTM D2500, ASTM D97, ISO 3015 and ISO 3016.

For further information on the MPP 5G please contact customer service on 1800 251 799 or email info@johnmorris.com.au

    New Petroleum Density Meter

    Posted by PressReleases - September 19, 2011 21:16

John Morris Scientific are proud to announce the release of ISL’s VIDATM Density Meter. The VIDATM  offers unmatched reliability in density analysis combined with user-friendly push-button operation and is able to analyse volatile to highly viscous crude oil and petroleum products.

The VIDATM features an in-built automatic bubble detection system. This system removes the need for visual checks and also ensures that reliability is not affected by bubble size or sample opacity.

The VIDATM combines an oscillating U-tube sensor (made of metal) with integrated Pt-100 sensors and Peltier elements. This ensures fast and reliable response to temperature variations, as well as, accurate temperature control across a wide temperature range 0oC to + 100oC.

An integrated ultrasonic cleaning device enhances solvent performance by cavitations. It also delivers: fast and efficient cleaning and drying; reduction of solvents consumption by 40%; easy removal of solute deposits; and, automatic cell cleanliness check.

An additional feature of the VIDATM is its intuitive and user-friendly software. This software provides real time test monitoring, clear test configuration and easy data management. The touch-screen enables intuitive menu navigation, east test progress follow-up and straightforward test configuration.

For further information on the VIDATM  please contact customer service on 1800 251 799 or email info@johnmorris.com.au

    Fast, On-Site Ethanol Purity Analyzer

    Posted by PressReleases - August 24, 2011 17:38

PAC’s PetroSpec QuickSpec™ delivers simple, fast and accurate analysis of gasoline-grade ethanol in the field.

The portable QuickSpec™ analyzer is a low-cost solution that quickly determines water and denaturant content of ethanol anywhere throughout the ethanol distribution system. The rugged, user-friendly QuickSpec™ lets producers know the precise purity of the denatured ethanol being delivered to the terminal, the refinery, or blending tank.

Analysis is performed using a new near-infrared red spectral method, and is accurate down to tenths of volume percent. The QuickSpec™ can determine ethanol purity in the range of 70 – 100%, water at 0 – 5% and denaturant from 0 – 30%. To use the QuickSpec™, a technician simply fills a sample cell with a fuel/ethanol mixture, places the sample cell in the instrument, and receives an answer in seconds. The instrument sets a baseline and adjusts electronics through automatic calibration. It delivers optimum results after each analysis, without the use of reagents.

The Quickspec™ is very portable (essentially the same size as a pair of field glasses). An optional battery pack allows instant mobility.

For further information on PAC’s PetroSpec QuickSpec™ please contact customer service on 1800 251 799 or email info@johnmorris.com.au

All-in-one Detection of Sulfur, Nitrogen & Halides

    Posted by PressReleases - August 24, 2011 01:56

The new ANTEK MultiTek™ by PAC, is the only instrument on the market that combines testing for sulfur, nitrogen and halides, all-in-one. Compact, powerful, automated and multi-configurable, it’s the perfect solution for fast, accurate detection and analysis of unwanted chemicals, pollutants, contaminants and corrosive elements. Typical industries include bio-fuels, chemicals, food & beverage, manufacturing and assembly, medical, pharmaceutical, environmental, and many more.

MultiTek™ detects sulphur, nitrogen, and halides through a uniquely efficient process that includes, Ultraviolet Fluorescence (UVF), Chemiluminescence and combustion Ion Chromatography (IC) technologies. MultiTek™ is superior to wet chemistry and XRF; works with solid, liquid, gas, and LPG samples; and provides lower and wider detection levels than competitive systems with excellent accuracy.

    Features include:

    - Remote operation - allowing users to set methods and operates from off-site locations.

    - Bench top configuration with small footprint (51.5cm H x 53.3cm W x 61cm; 36.3kg).

    - Early warning of potential corrosions / catalyst poisoning halides, nitrogen and sulphur - allowing preventative action to protect product and assets.

    - Multi-configurable - allowing users to select any combination of modules.

    - Automated operation has three key benefits: speeds up sample processing; reduces the user’s exposure to tested substances; and, increases test-retest reliability.

    Confirms to ASTM D5453, D6667, D7183, EN 20846 for Sulphur detection, ASTM D4629, D5176, D5762, UOP 971, 936 ENV 12260, DIN 38409 for Nitrogen and ASTM D7359 for Halides.

For further information on the MultiTek™ please contact customer service on 1800 251 799 or email info@johnmorris.com.au

Sulfur Express - Laboratory In A Box

    Posted by PressReleases - November 6, 2010 01:33

PAC-Antek's new Sulfur detector, the  Sulfur Express uses the ASTM D7620 - 10 standard test method for the determination of total Sulfur in Liquid Hydrocarbon based fuels by Continuous Injection, Air Oxidation and Ultraviolet Fluorescence detection (doesn’t require compressed gases).

Likened to 'a laboratory in a box', the Sulfur Express is ideal for mobile laboratories and screening applications where operators don't have time to send their samples back to the laboratory for analysis. This portable unit is quick and easy to use, simply fill a syringe from the selected sample and load it into the automatic sample injector for consistent results in less than 6 minutes.

The results are displayed in real time on a linear calibration curve (calculates average and % RSD) and can be printed via an inbuilt printer or transferred to a computer via USB for later use. All samples are automatically  stamped with the date/time of analysis and a sample identification.

The Sulfur Express is suitable for most combustible products including gasoline, reformulated gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, marine fuel and bio-fuel with no matrix effect. Both high and low levels of Sulfur can be detected and measurements can range from 1 - 3000 ppmw depending on the sample type.

For further information on the Sulfur Express please call customer service on 1800 251 799 or email info@johnmorris.com.au
