  • Jacketed Reactor Platform

    Posted by PressReleases - May 13, 2011 00:16

Syrris have released the easy-to-use Globe jacketed reactor platform which has been designed by chemists to offer high reaction flexibility.

The chemical reactor enables vessels from 50 mL to 5 L to use a common clamp, lid, circulator and stand. Furthermore, the oil drain unit and quick clamp allow single-handed vessel changes in seconds, increasing efficiency and throughput. Offering a wide range of temperatures (-90 to +250°C) and pressures (50 mbar to 3 bar), the flexible system is upgradable to a fully automated system.

The spring-loaded outlet valve eliminates the occurrence of leaks, even at temperature and pressure extremes. The reactors are available as single or vacuum jacketed for extreme temperature control and safety with a wide range of stirring options. An innovative stirrer seal and guide allows quick and independent connection to the stirrer motor or shaft, providing a chemically resistant, vacuum-tight seal.

Globe is designed with a default temperature range of -40 to +200°C, which is further extendable via the addition of temperature upgrade kits. In-reactor temperature probes enable accurate control throughout, while the Globe range is fully compatible with almost all circulators. The regular Globe system is suited to atmospheric pressure or vacuum processes as low as 50 mbar, while the Globe 3 bar system is suited for high-pressure reactions.

The reactor systems are easily upgraded using the Globe Reactor Master for full automation and data logging or the syringe pump for automated reagent dosing. Additionally, the Globe Master PC software converts the system into a fully controllable laboratory reactor.

Send Your Chemistry Into Orbit With This Economical Parallel Reaction System

    Posted by PressReleases - August 16, 2009 03:15

The Syrris Orbit Parallel Reaction Station is a high performance, low cost parallel synthesis system for research and development chemistry.

The orbit fits on an Atlas hot plate, Atlas hot/cold plate or a regular hotplate with magnetic stirring. The reaction tubes may be heated to 280°C with reflux, or cooled to -40°C.

The Orbit is available in two sizes

-The Orbit 6 which can hold six tubes (24mm Ø, 45ml)

-The Orbit 12 which can hold twelve tubes (13mm Ø, 10ml)

The Orbit consists of two parts. The Orbit has a ‘twist and click’ lid. When the Orbit lid is closed, it will immediately introduce any desired (inert) atmosphere to all reaction tubes. When the lid is removed, the septa sealing each reaction tube automatically re-seals and the tubes can be safely transported with any risk of exposure to air/moisture vapour. (Note, the built-in reaction tube septa also enables the introduction of reagents under inert conditions.)

The Orbit base is called the Refux Unit. The reaction tubes can be lifted in and out of the Reflux Unit. This enables the reaction tubes to be freely transported as one unit whilst the cooling/heating circulator line and reagent/inert gas in-let line remain connected to the Reflux Unit.

    New Flow Chemistry Solutions

    Posted by PressReleases - August 16, 2009 03:03

Syrris has introduced an easy to use flow chemistry experimental system, the FRX. With the FRX, reactions occur under laminar flow conditions, improving reaction speed, optimisation and control. The FRX flow chemistry systems are modular, allowing chemists to select the system that best meets individual needs and can be easily upgraded to meet changing demands.

The FRX is small in size and easily fits into the laboratory workplace.

Four modular FRX systems are offered by Syrris which have a range of functionalities and offer simple manual mode operation from the instrument’s front panel. The systems also allow both a solid and solution phase chemistry to be performed, expanding the range of reaction types that can be carried out in flow. Furthermore, high pressure capabilities permit the super heating of solvents and further increase reaction speed.

Modularity provides flexibility and easy integration of the units for increased reaction steps or more complex set ups when required. Wide flow range pump and reaction heating systems enable multiple reaction conditions to be run. Additionally analysis can be undertaken throughout the reaction by manually diverting a small quantity of the reaction mixture for testing and characterisation.

The FRX systems range from the basic 100, designed for initial flow chemistry work using a larger volume tube reactor and the 200, with a micro reactor and solid phase column – to the more complex FRX 300 and 400 for multi step chemistry and more complex set ups. Both the 300 and 400 incorporate an FRX Liquid – Liquid Extraction module (FLLEX). The FLLEX facilities compound purification and separation post reaction, which once separated can be passed for collection, analysis or further reaction. The FRX 400 also allows reaction cooling and can be used with solid supported chemistries.

A Completely New Modular Chemistry Tool

    Posted by - August 8, 2009 00:03

Syrris has introduced a high performance multipurpose synthesis system for research and development chemists, the Atlas. The Atlas offers a modular solution for a range of functions including heating, stirring, cooling and automated reagent addition.

The Atlas can adopt a wide range of different system configurations:

The Lithium system automates reactions in round bottomed flasks or vials and is equipped with a Hotplate and Stacking Dry Bath. Flasks from 50ml to 1 litre can be heated up to 280°C while the exterior surface remains cool to the touch. The Lithium allows users to edit and run profiles automatically from the base to control heating, cooling, stirring and reagent addition.

The Sodium system automates reactions in round bottomed flasks and is equipped with a hotplate (or Hot & Coldplate), magnetic stirrer and a Scorpion Overhead Stirrer for viscous reactions. The Stacking Dry Bath enables heating of round bottom flasks from 50ml to 1 litre up to 280°C

The Potassium system is designed for chemists who perform reactions in jacketed reactors. Integrated temperature and circulator control from the base unit make reactions easier. The Potassium is equipped with a scorpion Overhead Stirrer and 250ml round bottom Jacketed Vessel which can be substituted if required.

The pH Monitoring and Control systems are ideal for chemists who perform pH sensitive reactions. The pH system is based on the Potassium although the temperature node is replaced with a combined pH & temperature node and a pH probe allowing the Atlas to monitor both reaction temperature and pH. The pH system is equipped with a Syringe pump and can be configured to control the pH of a reaction by adding either acid and/or base as necessary to maintain a set pH value. The pH system can be operated from the Base Unit or via the Atlas Software.

The Remote Mount is designed for chemists who perform reactions in jacketed vessels. The Remote Mount allows a vessel to be mounted onto laboratory scaffolding. The Mount adds functionality to existing Atlas Systems by increasing the maximum working volume to 5 litres and locating jacketed vessels away from the Atlas Base.

The Gravimetric Dosing system allows a defined mass of reagent to be pumped from a balance to the reactor by a controlled peristaltic pump. The mass flow rate can be defined, monitored and adjusted by using Atlas Software.

The Syringe Pump is a volumetric dosing system which consists of two syringes and can be configured into two refilling flows or one continuous flow. A choice of dosing modes allows simple additions or active control of parameters including pH and temperature.

Atlas Software is an easy to use application for control and analysis of experiments. Systems including stirrers, circulators, RTD’s, pumps, balances, flow meters etc. The Software controls Atlas hardware as well as devices from other manufacturers. Reactions are continuously monitored and graphed with easy to use alarms and emergency control.
